What is the Difference Between an Internship/ Co-op and any other Job?
An Internship/ Co-op ensures a meaningful learning experience through work which complements your education and broadens your skills. The primary objective is to provide you with a planned, supervised work experience which will enhance your academic learning utilizing learning objectives.
 
Will I Receive Academic Credit?
Possibly. Think of the Internship/ Cooperative Education Program as an independent study class based on the time spent on the job and the learning objectives accomplished. Your Internship/ Co-op Coordinator will work with you to establish the amount of credit available. You will also receive a grade from your Faculty Advisor based on your work performance.  When signing up for an Internship/ Co-op class, you must obtain the advisor code, and course code from your Faculty Advisor.
Will I be Paid?
Possibly. As an Internship/ Co-op student there is opportunity to earn as you learn!  However, some positions are a volunteer opportunity or for-credit only. Remember, paid or un-paid, you always have the experience to put on your resume!
 
Why Become Involved in the Internship/ Co-op Program?
Through the Internship/ Co-op experience you can apply theory learned in the classroom and explore career opportunities in realistic work settings. By participating in the Internship/ Co-op Program you will enhance your chances in the job market after you graduate. You're not just settling for any job to help finance your education--you're working toward a career goal as well!
 
Can my current job qualify as an Internship/ Co-op experience?
Possibly. If you are working in a position related to your major or career interests, you may be able to participate in the Internship/ Cooperative Education Program. Through a process of objective setting and evaluation, you can enhance your present work experience while earning academic credit.  Your Faculty Advisor will help you determine if your current job can be used as an Internship/ Co-op experience.
