Effective June 1, 2015, admission to the undergraduate Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) is by application only. Applications are due October 15 of each fall semester. Prior to submitting an application, students must complete all the 1000 and 2000 level degree program courses. Details of the application process will be outlined in the 2015-2016 Undergraduate Catalog available in May 2015.

NFS Appoints Chair
Dr K Shane Broughton will be joining Texas Woman's University as the Department Chair of Nutrition and Food Sciences effective July 2014.
MS Capstone Seminar Course
Students in the Master of Science coursework only option programs in Nutrition, Food Systems Administration, and Food Science admitted before fall semester 2014 may choose to take the exit exam or complete the capstone seminar course for degree completion. Students admitted for or after fall semester 2014 must complete the capstone seminar course for degree completion.
Graduates and Faculty Recognized at TAND
Kristen Espinosa, BS, received three endowed scholarships from the Texas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (TAND) meeting in Austin. These were the Mozzelle Craddock scholarship, Fort Worth Dietetic Association scholarship, and North Texas Dietetic Association scholarship. Keri Stoner-Davis, MS, RDN, LD, received the Outstanding Dietetic Educator Award for a Dietetic Internship for her outstanding service to the Denton Dietetic Internship Program. Vicky Imrhan, PhD, RDN, LD, received the Distinguished Scientist Award given for recognition of excellence in research and furthering nutrition science over her career. Tsutsuy Becerra, BS, received the Betty Bohon Alford, Fort Worth Dietetic Association, and North Texas Dietetic Association endowed scholarships. Elizabeth Kiertscher, MS, RDN, CSSD, CNSC, LD, received the Recognized Young Dietetian of the Year Award at the meeting.
NFS PhD Graduate Appointed in Washington DC
TWU NFS graduate Anne Utech, PhD, has been appointed Deputy Director of Nutrition and Food Service for the Veterans Healthcare Administration in the VA Central Office in Washington DC. Dr Utech stated, "I look forward to serving our nation's veterans in support of their healthy living choices and medical nutrition therapy needs." She graduated with her PhD in Nutrition from TWU in 2012 after receiving her MS in Nutrition from TWU in 2005. Since 2010, Anne has worked as the Health Promotion Disease Prevention Manager for Houston VAMC where she has assisted over 122,000 veterans.
