Admission and Program Requirements
Admission Eligibility
To be eligible for admission, the registered nurse must:
- Meet the general requirements for admission to the University
- Hold a current license as an RN in Texas, and
- Have successfully completed the following course work.
Please refer to the 2007-2009 TWU General Catalog for additional admission information. See page 410 for College of Nursing Information.
Visit the Admissions Department for complete information on admission to TWU. Or you may email or call toll-free 1-866-809-6130 or 940-898-3188.
Although all prerequisites are strongly encouraged to be completed prior to the start of the nursing program, RN-BS students may progress through the program on a part-time basis while completing a limited number of Texas Core Curriculum prerequisites. If you have a prior bachelor's degree or are "Core Complete" at a college or university in the State of Texas, the prerequisites that may be taken with the first level of nursing courses are not required for the bachelor's degree.

Graduating seniors whose cumulative grade point average (GPA) reflects excellent scholarship are awarded their degree cum laude, magna cum laude, or summa cum laude. A minimum of 45 semester credit hours must be earned at TWU to qualify for this recognition. The cumulative GPA ranges for these graduation honors designations are listed below.
| Summa Cum Laude | 3.900 and above |
| Magna Cum Laude | 3.700-3.899 |
| Cum Laude | 3.500-3.699 |
Graduation honors recognition at the commencement ceremony is based on the cumulative GPA at the end of the semester prior to the final semester. Graduation honors recognition as recorded on the diploma or posted to the official transcript is based on the cumulative GPA at the end of the final semester.
