Mid June 2008 until mid July 200 (Tentatively June15-July11)

TWU Houston Campus is offering the cross-cultural learning experience for undergraduate and graduate nursing students in Summer 2008

Cost: $1500 for four weeks (Subject to change)

Study Spanish everyday at Pan Americana Universidad in Mexico City, observe and assist in healthcare at Hospital Espanol or CIMIGEN, both are hospitals in Mexico City. Enjoy the wonderful hospitality of a Mexican family and explore the sights and sounds of Mexico City the first two weeks. Weeks three and four will be held in Toshi where you will assist and observe in providing healthcare in a community center setting.

Price includes:

  • Room and Board for four weeks
  • Transfer as a group from and back to airport in Mexico City
  • Daily transportation to hospital for clinical
  • Transportation to community site
  • Weekend trip when in community
  • (Tuition and fees at Universidad PanAmericana waived)
  • Language course materials

Price does not include:

  • Airfare
  • Insurance (medical & dental, trip cancellation, travel accident, or emergency assistance)
  • Optional tours and activities (weekends)
  • Passport and related expenses
  • Immunizations (recommend Hepatitis A and Bacterial Meningitis)
  • Personal expenses including extra meals.

If you are interested in attending this learning experience, please submit a 1500 word document outlining why you want to participate, what are your learning objectives for the four weeks and how you plan to meet these objectives. Applications, objectives document, and $300 non-refundable deposit due by April 25, 2008.
