Application Process


All items must be completed in the following order:
  1. Receive official acceptance to Texas Woman's University.Submit the Texas common online application, application fee, and all official transcripts to student records in Denton. We recommend you apply to TWU six months prior to CON Fast Track application deadline date (February 1). Send any updated transcripts to student records each semester until beginning nursing courses. Contact Denton Student Records for questions about your TWU application or status. International students must contact the Office of International Education in Denton.

  2. Once accepted to TWU, you must verify correct posting of all transfer courses via Pioneer Portalusing your official TWU Colleague ID number. (Students MUST BE officially admitted to TWU in order to build and access a Pioneer Portal account.) Please allow 1-2 weeks for student records processing and posting of your grades.
  • Go to https://portal.twu.edu/default.asp  to set up Pioneer Portal account. Once set up, view your TWU transcript to verify accuracy. Click on My Info on the left side and then click on Transcript
  • Second degree students wishing to use course work from previous BS/BA degree must have approval from the CON prior to application deadline. First degree courses are not evaluated by student records. Contact an admissions coordinator for information.
  • Only post baccalaureate grades will appear on TWU transcripts of 2nd degree students. If your TWU transcript does not contain all post bacc course information from your submitted official transcript(s), call Student Records at 940-898-3076 to make correction.

    1. Complete all 25 hours of nursing core courses by CON Fast Track application deadline (February 1).This includes Chemistry with lab, Micro with Lab, A&P I&II with Labs, Nutrition, Statistics, and Psyc Growth & Development Life Span.  The 12 hours of Texas mandated History and Government curriculum must be completed before beginning nursing courses, if these courses were not completed in first degree. Any prereq courses completed in your first degree that you wish to transfer to meet nursing prerequisites must be approved in advance by the CON.  Contact the BS nursing admissions coordinator
  • Course descriptions and/or syllabi will need to be provided to Nursing Admissions coordinators as soon as you receive your TWU acceptance and ID number. Please allow plenty time for this evaluation. *See the equivalency chart for course equivalents for local Texas schools.

    1. Contact Educational Resources Inc (1-800-292-2273) to schedule NET testing. Indicate that you want scores sent to TWU College of Nursing in Denton. A minimum score of 55 on the reading comprehension section is required to continue in the nursing application process. NOTE: NET score results will not be accepted from students. You are allowed to NET test ONCE only per application period. This includes testing for other locations. ERI will transfer scores to TWU for exams taken previously only if you have made these arrangements directly with ERI. See Nursing Entrance Testing (NET) information. NET testing for Fast Track application may be done once from September to January.
  • Nurse Entrance Test [pdf]
    1. Submit the completed College of Nursing Fast Track application and $30.00 processing fee, by Fast Track application deadline date (February 1).  The CON Fast Track application is available only from your Pioneer Portal account.  Nursing applications are not available until the semester prior to the deadline date.  The Fast Track program is offered each summer at the Dallas Center in odd numbered years and the Houston Center in even numbered years.

    • The TWU General Catalog for 2007-2009 is available online at http://www.twu.edu/academics/GenCAT2007-09.pdf  Students must meet the admission requirements of the University and the progression requirements of the College of Nursing.
    • If transferring from another Nursing program, please see the 2007-2009 TWU General Catalog, page 415, for additional requirements and contact the BS Coordinator in Dallas or Houston. Print CON admission requirements for second degree (non-nurses with Bachelors degree), and students transferring from another nursing program, the CON application form, equivalency chart, and checklist from our Web site.
    • All correspondence regarding your College of Nursing application will be through your TWU email address, with the exception of letters of acceptance or regret.
    • The Fast Track program is offered each summer at the Dallas Center in odd numbered years and the Houston Center in even numbered years.
    • If you are not accepted into the FAST TRACK, your Nursing application will rollover to be considered for the following FALL Semester only.
    • If you are not accepted for FALL, a new College of Nursing application and processing fee must be submitted for each subsequent semester you apply.
    • Regular applications will not carry over from one semester to the next.
