Message from the Dean: Patricia Holden-Huchton, RN, DSN, CNE
Welcome to Texas Woman's University College of Nursing!
When I joined Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas in August 2005 as Associate Dean, I was impressed with the quality of the faculty, students and educational programs. Now in my third year in the College of Nursing, I appreciate how the college and faculty have made an important contribution to the citizens of Texas and beyond.
The College of Nursing has a well established reputation for
- Graduating the most nurses in the state of Texas through baccalaureate (BS) program with highly skilled faculty who teach in small clinical groups.
- Having the largest PhD program in the country that began in 1971.
- Influencing health care quality with over 13,000 alumnae around the world. Plans are now underway to break ground for a new building in Dallas in 2008 with projected completion of 2010.
- Showcasing a new presence at the south gateway to the Texas Medical Center that houses the Nelda C. Stark College of Nursing and Center for Telenursing and Health Informatics within our 10 floor Institute of Health Sciences that opened August, 2006.
We continue to make significant changes in our programs to make our students and graduates even better through
- A new Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program for post-master's students, beginning in Summer 2008
- A new 100% online 36 hour nursing education program beginning in Fall 2007
- Simulation teaching with high fidelity mannequins.
- Online courses for busy RN BS/MS students.
- A new acute care nurse practitioner major, with our current adult, family, pediatric, women’s health practitioners, nurse educator and nursing/health systems management majors.
Come join us as a student, faculty, researcher or donor to grow even more through our vision statement, Pioneering Nursing's Future: An Adventure in Excellence, and our Mission Statement and Goals.
