How it Works
In order to establish the concurrent admission process whereby pre-Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing are assured provisional acceptance to the RN to BS program at TWU, students must complete the following steps:
- Complete the Declaration of Intent Form, which must be done after completion of at least 12 hours of coursework at Collin.
- Complete a concurrent admission application to Collin College and TWU (through Apply Texas).
Benefits of the Program
Many employers require that nurses are earning or have earned their Bachelor’s with a major in Nursing degree as a prerequisite for employment. TWU’s baccalaureate level of study provides increased emphasis on leadership and management, research, wellness (health promotion/disease prevention), and community health nursing. These skills are considered invaluable in nursing today and will therefore increase your marketability.
Requirements and Degree Plan
- Students must complete the Associate Degree in Nursing at Collin College.
- Students must maintain a 2.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale for all required courses including nursing courses.
- Students must meet all of the admission requirements including Collin and TWU’s general education requirements.
- Students must pass the NCLEX-RN and be in good standing as a Registered Nurse in the United States before being admitted unconditionally to the RN to BS program.
- Students will be admitted under a provisional status until they have met all TWU requirements for unconditional admission to the program.
- TWU will accept up to 62 semester credit hours (SCH) general education/core from Collin College and 28 (SCH) advanced placement basic nursing courses.
