Bell Ave to close April 24-May 19 and June 1-July 29
- Bell Ave closed Apr. 24 - May 19, primarily southbound lane from Administration Dr to Texas Street (see map)
- Bell Ave closed Jun. 1 - Jul. 29, between University Blvd and Texas Street
In an effort to improve the road conditions along Bell Avenue, the City of Denton is working with TWU to repair Bell Avenue from Texas Street to University Drive. Bell Avenue will be closed starting Monday, April 24 through Friday, May 19 for the City of Denton wastewater repairs. It also will be closed June 1-July 29, as the City works on milling and overlay street repair project for Bell Avenue.
The April 24-May 19 closing primarily will impact the southbound lanes of Bell Avenue, which will be closed at different intervals between Texas Street and Administration Drive. At this time, it is expected that the MCL pedestrian crosswalk will remain accessible.
Be on the lookout for City of Denton traffic signs, which will guide drivers to alternate routes.
TWU is working with the City of Denton to open Bell Avenue during Commencement May 12-13.
During the June 1-July 29 repair, Bell Avenue will be open for neighborhood and required TWU traffic. “Thru Traffic” will not be permitted. Thru traffic will be diverted to Mingo to North Ruddell to University and possibly to Oakland Street depending on the access required.
Should you need to walk across Bell Avenue, please cross at the light at Administration Drive or at available street crossings that are still in operation.
As a reminder, should you wish to avoid Bell Avenue, the TWU North Remote Parking Lot is a convenient option with shuttle services to campus (7:30 a.m. -5:15 p.m.).
We will update you as we receive more information. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this process.
