Ellis Hampton is currently an adjunct instructor in percussion at the Texas Woman’s University where he directs the TWU Gamelan Anklung and teaches applied percussion lessons. At the University of Kentucky he studied under James Campbell and is currently completing his doctoral degree in percussion performance at the University of North Texas with Mark Ford. He has held teaching assistantships in both the percussion and musicology at UNT. 

Mr. Hampton’s experience as a performer and educator spans a wide variety of musical idioms including symphonic music, world percussion, marching percussion, chamber works, solo repertoire, and improvisatory percussion. As a performer, he has served in the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra, the Lexington Brass Band, the UK Percussion Quartet, Blue Steel Cocktail Steel Band, the ‘Los Gatos Locos’ Salsa Band, and had extensive experience in both indoor and outdoor marching percussion mediums. As an educator, Mr. Hampton’s duties have included percussion ensembles, steel band, chamber percussion groups, indoor percussion ensembles, and drum and bugle corps. He is currently on the percussion staff of the Phantom Regimen and is an artist for Innovative Percussion, Inc.
