Jessica Yang playing a violin

Jessica Yang, 24, started playing the violin at the age of three and a half. She made her first solo recital debut at the age of 12 and her orchestra debut in the same year where she performed the Mozart Violin Concerto No.4 with the Hawaii Performance Arts Festival Orchestra. She was invited as a fellow to perform with the Montclair Orchestra along with Metropolitan Orchestra Musicians, now called APEX Ensemble, in the 2019-2020 season.

Jessica was under the guidance of Professor Li Lin at the Juilliard Pre-college and continued her study in the College Division in a joint studio of Li Lin and David Chan, concertmaster of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. She recently graduated from the violin performance Master’s program in Rice University, studying with world-renowned violinist, Cho-Liang Lin. She has also studied with several top violinists, such as Chee-Yun Kim, Aaron Rosand, and Christina Khimm. Over the years, Jessica participated in several music festivals including Great Mountain Music Festival, Hawaii Performing Arts Festival, Summit Music Festival, Sarasota Music Festival and Taipei Music Academy and Festival.

Now enrolled in Texas Woman’s University Master of Music Therapy equivalency program, Jessica is continuing her violin education by surrounding herself with talented peers, while also diving into a completely different field as she explores her love for music therapy.

In addition to the music, Jessica is a massive sport-lover. She enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, working out, as well as doing aerial yoga, sling dance, hoop, etc.
