Profile

Andrea Pinder is a Dallas-based soprano and educator who is known for her dramatic voice that combines opulence and warmth with superb musicianship. Her operatic credits include Female Chorus (The Rape of Lucretia), Desdemona (Otello), Lysia (Lysistrata), Suor Angelica (Suor Angelica), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Magda (La Rondine), Rose Segal (Later the Same Evening), Olga (The Merry Widow), and Venus (Orpheus in the Underworld). Andrea joined Pittsburg Festival Opera during the summer of 2021 as a Hans and Leslie Fleischner Young Artist.

Andrea is a passionate educator who values voice building, personal growth and inclusivity. Andrea served as a Teaching Fellow at the University of North Texas from 2019-2023. She has also been on the faculty of Dallas College – Richland Campus, and enjoyed a thriving private studio of over 50 students in Plano from 2016-2019. This fall, Andrea is excited to be joining the Texas Woman’s University voice faculty.

Andrea enjoys being an active performer of concerts and recitals. In 2022 she was the soprano soloist in Mozart’s Requiem with Plano Civic Chorus, premiered Mooney’s Requiem for a Poisoned Earth in collaboration with UNT’s We Mean Green Fund and the Advanced Environmental Research Institute, and was a featured soloist in An Evening of Grace with Choirs Across Dallas. In 2021, Andrea presented a recital as a part of the Lewisville Lake Symphony Chamber Concert Series.

Andrea is an award-winning researcher with her project “Musician Eye Strain during Covid-19 as Related to Screen Exposure in Higher Education” winning an Outstanding Research Award at the 39th annual Performing Arts Medicine Association International Symposium in 2021.  

She is a native of Milwaukee, WI and began her educational pursuits at Luther College in Decorah, IA before moving to Texas to attend the University of North Texas for a master’s degree in voice performance. Andrea is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of North Texas studying voice performance and vocal pedagogy.

Andrea enjoys collaborating on music and life with husband, Myles Pinder (tenor), who is also an active performer and educator.
