MBRS students were honored as 2009 Chancellor's Student Research Scholars during the TWU Student Creative Arts & Research Symposium.  This year's honorees are Hiwot Guililat, Chemistry & Physics (working in the research lab of Dr. Nat Mills, Biology); Danyeal Heckard, Biology (working in the research lab of Dr. Lynda Uphouse, Biology); Vianey Segovia, Biology (working in the research lab of Dr. DiAnna Hynds, Biology); and Kai Thompson, Biology (working in the research lab of Dr. DiAnna Hynds, Biology).  This special category of recognition is awarded to students exhibiting outstanding achievement in their research and creative arts endeavors.

MBRS students have published manuscripts in scientific journals 
such as Brain Research, Journal of Chemistry and the Journal of Organic Chemistry, Neuroscience, Clinical Sports Medicine, Journal of Obesity, Hormones and Behavior, and other reputable peer-reviewed publications.

MBRS students have traveled to present their research results at scientific meetings in exciting destinations like Atlanta, Austin, Galveston and  Houston, New Orleans, New York, Miami and Orlando, Phoenix, and San Diego, with more to come every year.

MBRS students have been accepted as active members of national science organizations such as American Society for Microbiology, Genetics Society of America, Society for Neuroscience, American Psychological Association and American Chemical Society, to name a few.

MBRS students have been accepted for prestigious summer research programs at campuses such as the UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas; The Emory Autism Institute at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia; Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.; Rice University and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas; Johns Hopkins University and the University of Maryland in Baltimore, Maryland; Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and the list goes on.

MBRS students have graduated from TWU to pursue higher degrees in the sciences at such institutions as Howard University in Washington, D.C.; University of North Texas Health Science Center in Ft. Worth and the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston; University of Nebraska at Lincoln; New Mexico State University in Las Cruces; University of Oklahoma Health Science Center at Oklahoma City; Rockefeller University in New York; Texas Tech University; St. Louis University; University of Wisconsin at Madison, and other reputable institutions of higher learning.
