Welcome to the M.A.T. Website!

Welcome to TWU's Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) website. I hope you will find the information you need here, but if not, please don't hesitate to contact us at for more information or resources. If you are visiting this site because you are interested in becoming a teacher, I want to encourage you to consider TWU for your educator preparation program.

The M.A.T. degree is designed for the individual who is seeking initial teacher certification and already holds a bachelor's degree in a field other than education. This degree is designed to provide a high quality education within a flexible framework that many of today's students require to balance the demands of both their professional and personal lives.

Teaching is a very enriching and rewarding career. In TWU’s M.A.T. program, students will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for success in this important and satisfying profession. At TWU, students will progress through an educator preparation program that is thorough, up-to-date and relevant to the needs of students in 21st century classrooms. Courses within M.A.T. are taught by faculty members with many years of experience in every aspect of teaching. Prospective M.A.T. students should know they will become well prepared in both their chosen content field and in the actual art and science of teaching as many hours of practical, hands-on experience working and teaching in real classrooms is an integral part of the program. Finally, M.A.T. students are assigned faculty advisors which mentor, support, and guide them as they pursue their degree.

If you are currently in the M.A.T. program, I wish you continued success and encourage you to let me know how we can help you in your educational journey. If you are considering the M.A.T. program at TWU, I invite you to join us and find out for yourself the value of a graduate degree from Texas Woman’s University. If I help you in any, please do not hesitate to contact me.
