We want to welcome you to TWU's Master of Arts in Teaching website. If you are visiting this site because you are interested in becoming a teacher we want to encourage you to consider TWU for your preparation program. The Master of Arts in Teaching program is designed to provide the quality you would expect from a university with TWU's outstanding reputation along with the flexibility that you need.

Teaching is a very enriching and rewarding career and in TWU’s MAT program you will acquire the knowledge and skills to help you succeed in this important and satisfying profession. At TWU you will find a program that is thorough, up-to-date and relevant and that will prepare you for the classrooms of the 21st Century. You will find a well-qualified faculty with many years of experience in every aspect of teaching. You will be well prepared in both your content field and in the art and science of teaching. You will find mentoring that will support and guide you in your path to the education profession. And, you will acquire many hours of practical, hands-on experience working and teaching in real classrooms.

Each semester our teacher education students spend an aggregate of 14,000 hours in observations and practicums in PK-12 classrooms, and approximately 280 student teachers and 170 interns each year receive full-time field-based preparation.
