From an intimate workshop to a national conference, the Office of Lifelong Learning can provide services to make your event successful. The Office of Lifelong Learning at Texas Woman's University provides quality, innovative lifelong learning opportunities to a diverse student population by extending the educational resources of Texas Woman's University. TWU Lifelong Learning is based on a model that is successful at many universities. Often called Extended Education or Continuing Studies, universities organize this function to accommodate the many unique opportunities that exist, but which fit neither the mission nor the expertise of traditional academic units. Lifelong Learning at TWU is a support unit in the context of the university goals. We organize around three basic areas of activity:

1. Distance Education - Provide leadership for Distance Education policy and planning. Aid in developing, implementing, and evaluating Distance Education courses/programs, support services, and technology. Coordinate necessary academic support services for Distance Education initiatives. Encourage and develop administrative structures, policies and reward systems that facilitate a rapid response to the needs of students and ensure that Distance Education students receive an appropriate level of services.

2. Continuing Education - Continuing education helps meet educational goals that serve both the community and professionals. Texas Woman’s University is committed to meeting the need for ongoing professional development in fields relating to academic credit programs by expanding our offerings in continuing education in a manner which will enhance TWU’s general visibility, as well as attract students to our credit programs. Lifelong Learning assists faculty, staff, and off-campus users of the University facilities in continuing education program planning and administration, information services, continuing education (CEU) procedures, non-academic programs of external groups and the identification of new program areas. Lifelong Learning non-credit activities are self-supporting auxiliary enterprises of the University.

3. Non-traditional programs - academic partnerships on special projects with various funding strategies, especially evening and weekend or off-campus opportunities.

• Provide leadership and support in the development and delivery of educational programs in fields related to Texas Woman's University academic programs
• Identify opportunities for personal and professional development through credit and non-credit education, including certifications and credentials that demonstrate competencies for the complex workplace
• Provide enriching experiences for constituents across their lifespan
• Strengthen Texas Woman's University's role as a vibrant and necessary component of the local, regional, and state communities
