About Interlibrary Loan:
The TWU Interlibrary Loan Service is designed to help TWU faculty and students acquire research materials unavailable in the TWU Libraries. The library acts as an agent in obtaining these materials on loan or in photocopy from other libraries. The service also may be used to request copies of items located at only one of the TWU campus libraries but needed by someone at another TWU campus.

Thesis/Dissertations
- Not all institutions make theses or dissertations available for loan. Often only the institution which granted the degree will own a copy of the thesis or dissertation. Dissertations and Masters theses frequently are NOT available through Interlibrary Loan or there is a charge for borrowing.
- Over 600,000 recent dissertations are available for immediate download from the database:
Dissertation Abstracts Online & ProQuest Digital Dissertations
This source is available to TWU Faculty, Staff, and Students with a valid Pioneer Portal login.
-
The fastest method to make a request for a dissertation or thesis--is by using
WorldCat or WorldCatDissertations
Search for the dissertation or thesis and use the ILL function to submit the request. Submitting ILL requests for dissertations via other databases like PsycINFO, MLA, etc. will delay your request.
- If we are unable to borrow the a dissertation without charges, Interlibrary Loan will notify you about options. It may be possible to purchase your own personal copy of an unbound U.S. or Canadian dissertation. You can do this directly via Dissertation Express for $41 or you can request it via the TWU Libraries and we can obtain it for you for $29. International dissertations and theses are sometimes available, but at charges that can range from $30 to over $100
