If library materials are not returned within 30 days of the due date, or if fines exceed $10.00, borrowing privileges will be revoked and records at the Registrar's Office will be blocked.

Fines and Fees

Payment of fines by cash (exact change only), check, Visa, Mastercard, or American Express is accepted at the Circulation Desk during all operational hours. Visa , Mastercard & American Express credit card payments may also be made by telephone at (940) 898-3719. Check or money orders may be sent to the following mailing address:

• Notification of Fines and Fees
  Library patrons are responsible for returning all borrowed items on time, whether or not an overdue notice is received.
  When an item becomes overdue, two (2) notices are sent to the patron:
  
  1. when it is one (1) day overdue
  2. when it is thirty (30) days overdue and considered Lost
  
  A Fines and Fees Notice will be sent when Overdue Fines are assessed.
  
  When an item is 30 days overdue, it is considered Lost and Replacement Fees will be assessed. A Fines and Fees notice will be sent to the patron at this time.
  
  All notices are processed daily and are sent via the patron's TWU e-mail account by default. It is the patron's responsibility to provide his/her TWU email address at the time of registering for library services or by updating the account online or in person. It is the patron's responsibility to forward TWU email to another email account if necessary. Courtesy Card patrons will be notified via the email address on file. If there is no e-mail address on file, notices will be sent via postal mail to patrons' local addresses or, if Faculty/Staff, via campus mail. Overdue Notices are provided to patrons as a courtesy.



• Fines For Overdue Materials
  Regular Circulating Materials:
  $.35 per day per item to a maximum of $50.00 per item
  
  Reserve Materials:
  Hourly items: $2.00 per hour per item, or fraction thereof
  One day items: $5.00 per day per item
  Weekly items: $5.00 per day per item
  All reserve materials have a maximum fine of $100.00 per item.
  
  Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Materials:
  $1.00 per day per item to a maximum of $50.00 per item
  Note: Due dates for ILL materials are determined by the lending institution. ILL materials cannot be renewed.
  A $5.00 fee will be assessed for every ILL due date band that is removed from ILL materials.
  
  Media Items:
  Videocassettes, DVD's, and Media Kits: $1.00 per day
  Audiocassettes, CD's, and LP's: $.35 per day
  All media items have a maximum fine of $50.00 per item.
  Only one (1) renewal is allowed on media materials and new due dates must be confirmed.

  Recalled Items:
  When an item is recalled, a new due date is assigned to that item. For every day that it is overdue beyond THAT date, a $2.00 fine will be assessed.
  Interlibrary Loan items can be recalled by the lending institution at any time and are subject to additional fines.
  


• Replacement Fees
  Lost or Damaged Books:
  Cost of the book, but not less than $25.00 for materials in print or $75.00 for materials out-of-print, and a non-refundable processing fee of $35.00.
  
  Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Materials:
  Cost of the item as determined by the lending library, including penalties paid by the TWU Library for failure to return the item. Minimum fine is $75.00.
  The replacement cost of items only available in sets will be the replacement cost of the entire set.
  
  Media Items:
  Cost of the item, but not less than $50.00 for available materials OR $150.00 for out-of-print items and a non-refundable processing fee of $35.00.
