Decide When to Search the Internet for Information Sometimes it may be faster and more reliable to seek other sources of information. Everything you need for your research is NOT on the Internet, but some very useful information can be found there. The Internet is home for many unpublished papers, for important government reports and studies, for statistics, for commentary and opinion, for news, for electronic publications not produced in printed form, and for connections to authorities through web sites for agencies, organizations, educational institutions, and discussion lists. As we said before, the Web has a huge amount of information to sort through. It's a great source for things like product information, news, and popular topics such as sports, cooking and travel. But, can you use it for all of your information needs? It pays to think first about the fastest way to find the information you need. Don't assume that everything is online - it isn't!
