Use and Cite Info Ethically |
Example:
In 1996 during a television program about Mad Cow disease, Oprah Winfrey said, "It has just stopped me from eating another burger!"
You must provide citations within your text linking appropriate passages to resources consulted or quoted.
Example:
As Thomas Jefferson suggests, "Ignorance is preferable to error, and he is less remote from the truth who believes nothing than he who believes what is wrong." Thomas Jefferson (Notes on Virginia, 1782)
A bibliography, or list of works cited should be included with your paper. Sample:
Bibliography Greater New Milford (Ct) Area Healthy Community 2000, Task Force on Teen and Adolescent Issues. (n.d.) Who has time for a family meal? You do! Retrieved October 5, 2000, from http://familymealtime.org Kendall, J. & Hollen, C. (2004). Children and Weight. BosSeptember 12, 2007 Association Between Infant Breastfeeding and Overweight in Young Children. JAMA. 2001;285(19):2453-2460.
Schwartz, J. (1993, September 30). Obesity affects economic, social status. The Washington Post, pp. A1, A4.
There are several guidelines and styles for citing works correctly. You should check with whomever is directing your research-your instructor, editor or publisher-to see what citation style is required. See the TWU Libraries' Reference page on citing resources:
