Problems Using E-Resources at TWU Libraries

What if I'm informed a resource has reached the maximum number of users?

Some TWU databases allow only a limited number of simultaneous users. If you receive a database message that the number of simultaneous users has been reached, please log off and try again in a few minutes.

Why is a resource no longer available?

On occassion, we will withdraw an electronic resource. Some of the reasons for this include the following:
  • Resources may no longer be available.
  • Resources are no longer free and funding could not be found.
  • The price of a resource has increased and the subscribing department chose not to renew access.
  • Trial subscriptions sometimes expire before a library sponsor for the resource could be found.

Why am I being directed to a new URL? Why doesn't the new site work properly?

Vendors sometimes change URLs (web addresses) without informing us! If you encounter a URL change please notify us so we can update our database immediately. If access to the resource is restricted, a URL change can and usually will break our connection to the e-resource.

When should I contact my local technical support or my Internet Service Provider?

It is not easy to isolate specific symptoms that indicate whether the problem is local to your network or your ISP. If we believe a problem is caused by a firewall or a caching proxy, we will ask you to contact your local support.
