Practicum is a 120-hour, professionally-supervised internship in an approved school, public, university, or special library. A successful TWU SLIS Practicum provides students with the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge, to practice newly-acquired skills, and to practice and perfect a professional manner. Three credit hours earned through the Practicum course are applied towards the required 36 hours to earn an MLS degree.
Students seeking School Library Certification who were admitted to SLIS on or after January 1, 2009, will be required to complete 160 hours to comply with the Texas State Board for Educator Certification’s new legislation.
