Dr. Martin is a Professor of Political Science in the Division
of Political Science and Criminal Justice at Midwestern State University in
Wichita Falls, Texas. He holds a B.A. in History and Biology from Tarkio College
and has earned a M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from Southern Illinois
University.
Dr. Martin has traveled widely throughout the world. He studied at the University
of Paris in 1964 and was a Rotary Foundation Fellow at the University of Philippines
in 1966-1967. In 1989, he was selected as a Molone Fellow by the Council of
U.S. - Arab Relations and visited the Middle East as an official guest of
the government of Saudi Arabia.
He is quite active in community affairs. He has served on numerous boards
and commissions including the board of KIDZ Television and the Wichita Falls
Rotary Club. For many years, he hosted a public affairs radio program five
days a week for radio station KDFT. During that period, he conducted several
thousand interviews with public officials at all levels. He also has been
honored as a Danforth Foundation Fellow.
He teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in political science, public
management, and criminal justice at Midwestern. He is an active scholar and
has published a variety of research reports. He specializes in comparative
politics, research methods, and particularly in survey research and computer
analysis. He has done extensive consulting for television news coverage and
also political campaigns. He is the founder of Research Associates, a very
successful research and political consulting firm.
