Dr. Liepa earned his undergraduate degree and Master's Degree
from Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa, and his Ph.D. from Iowa State University,
Ames, Iowa. He has worked as a National Institute of Health Fellow at the
University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.
Currently, Dr. Liepa is doing research with scientists at Baylor Medical School
(Dallas Campus), UT Medical Center (Dallas), and Southwestern Dialysis Center.
Dr. Liepa has published numerous research papers and book chapters. Just recently,
he published a book titled Dietary Proteins in Health and Disease.
Dr. Liepa is a Visiting Professor of Nutrition for the National Dairy Council
and a recipient of the Texas Dietetic Association "Bluebonnet Award" given
to the individual who has most benefited the association and who is not a
dietitian.
Most recently, Dr. Liepa spent four months in Riga, Latvia, as a Senior Fulbright
Scholar. He lectured primarily to physicians and medical students.
