2010 South Central American Society of Biomechanics Conference
The 2nd South Central American Society Biomechanics Conference (SCASB 2010) will be held at Texas Woman’s University (TWU) in Denton, Texas. The conference theme is “Theory & Application in Life & Sport” and will include keynote presentations from Dr. Blaise Williams, Dr. Duane Knudson, Dr. Stuart Warden and Dr. Doug Powell. Opening remarks will be made by Dr. Young-Hoo Kwon, Professor of Kinesiology in the Department of Kinesiology at Texas Woman’s University.
While the theme of the conference is “Theory & Application in Life & Sport”, abstracts representing all areas of biomechanics are invited for poster and podium presentations. The abstract submission deadline is January 15th, 2010. An awards committee composed of Drs. Rhonda Boros, Jody Riskowski and Darla Smith will present a “Best Abstract” award for the conference.
- The 2nd SCASB Conference will be held at Texas Woman’s University from February 11th to 13th in Denton, Texas.
- SCASB is a regional meeting of the American Society of Biomechanics. The theme of the meeting is “Theory & Application in Life & Sport”.
- Opening Remarks will be made by Dr. Young-Hoo Kwon (Professor of Kinesiology, TWU)
- Keynote Speeches will be given by: Dr. Blaise Williams (East Carolina University), Dr. Duane Knudson (Texas State University), Dr. Stuart Warden (Indiana University) and Dr. Doug Powell (Creighton University).
The conference will be a welcoming environment to undergraduate and graduate students to present their research while receiving constructive feedback from peers and faculty. Students are encouraged to submit and present abstracts.
Paper Submission
Abstracts can be submitted at http://digitalcommons.wku.edu/ijesab/. The authors will simply click on “Submit Article” on the right side of the page and it will take them through the process.

TWU is located northwest of Dallas and northeast of Fort Worth. Our proximity to the Dallas/Fort Worth Area provide our students and faculty with abundant cultural, social and educational opportunities. Denton, a community of about 100,000 people, is home to TWU and the University of North Texas. Find out more about Denton at DiscoverDenton.com.
US Highway 380 is the major east-west thoroughfare in Denton. Known in the city as University Drive, it borders the northern edge of the TWU campus. TWU's high-rise buildings are visible for miles, so keep an eye out for them as you approach Denton.
The physical address for Pioneer Hall - for use with GPS and other web map programs - is 1600 North Bell Avenue, Denton, Texas, 76209.
From Dallas:
Take Interstate I-35E to Denton. Take exit 464, which becomes Dallas Drive. Stay on Dallas Drive, which passes under a railroad bridge and curves to the right, where it becomes Bell Ave. Continue on Bell Avenue. After crossing McKinney Street, Bell Avenue will curve to the left (you must be in the left lane to make the turn). Ahead of you will be the TWU campus with its distinctive high-rise buildings. At the intersection of Bell Avenue and Administration Drive, turn left and stop at the visitor booth. You will be given information on parking and directions to the admissions office.
From Fort Worth:
