Anne Schley Duggan Endowed Scholarship
Established by alumnae, faculty and students of Texas Woman's University and by family, friends, and colleagues of Dr. Duggan to cite her accomplishments as an educator, professional leader, author, lecturer, administrator, and friends. Recipients of the award must be full-time and majoring in Kinesiology. The award is reserved for those students above the sophomore level. Back to the List
Beverly Enterprises Scholarship
Recognizing merit alone, the award may be granted to students of any grade level for therapeutic recreation. Back to the List
Biomechanics Scholarship
Graduate student majoring in biomechanics in the Dept. of Kinesiology is eligible for this scholarship. Only full-time student working in the Biomechanics Laboratory will be considered. A new student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale from his/her previous graduate study, or from the last two years of his/her undergraduate study. A continuing student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale from his/her graduate work at TWU. Priority will be given to students who do not have financial aid. Back to the List
The Darlene A. Kluka Scholarship
Meet the minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and the continuing academic performance standards of the Department of Kinesiology; maintain a full-time enrollment at TWU; and must be a student majoring in Kinesiology and have professional promise. Back to the List
Elizabeth Anne Sugars Endowment Fund
The purpose of the fund is to provide a stream of income to support scholarships for students whose studies are within the areas of Adapted Physical Education. Should there be no students qualified for the scholarship, then the money may be used for research in the area of Adapted Physical Education. Back to the List
Ivalene & Robert Sherrill Scholarship
Established by Dr. Claudine Sherrill in honor of her parents. This competitive scholarship is awarded annually to a student commencing graduate work in Adapted and Developmental Physical Education with an outstanding record of service for disabled persons. The recipient is selected by the Department of Kinesiology. Back to the List
Jean Pyfer Scholarship in Physical Education
Established by Dr. Jean Pyfer, former Chair of the Department of Kinesiology. Recipients are selected by the Department of Kinesiology and must have an overall 3.5 grade point average, be physical education major, and have professional promise. Back to the List
Joyce M. Cronk, PhD. Scholarship
The purpose of the fund is to provide a stream of income to support scholarships for students majoring in health, physical education, and recreation. Student must be entering sophomore, junior, or senior level in the fall semester; student must be majoring in health education; physical education; or recreation; student must have earned a 3.0 GPA or better in the freshman year with at least 24 credit hours successfully completed. Preference will be given to students who meet the above stated criteria and who demonstrate financial need as defined by the TWU General Scholarship Committee. Selection of the Joyce M. Cronk Scholars will be made by a committee of representatives of the health education, physical education, and recreation programs. The Joyce Cronk Scholar would be eligible to retain the scholarship for a total of six semesters (sophomore, junior and senior years of study) as long as the major field requirements were met and as long as the GPA remained at 3.0 or better. Margaret Varner Bloss Scholarship
Meet the minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and the continuing academic performance standards of the Department of Kinesiology; maintain a full-time enrollment at TWU; and must be a student majoring in Kinesiology and have professional promise. Back to the List
Margot Purdy Scholarship
Established by Ms. Joyce Cronk, in memory of Ms. Margot Purdy. The purpose is to provide scholarships to students in need who are majoring in Kinesiology. Recipients are selected by the Department of Kinesiology. Back to the List
Marilyn Hinson Scholarship
Established to provide awards to graduate students pursuing a degree in the field of Kinesiology. Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher and must show evidence of professional promise. Back to the List
Marguerite Ann & Mary Agnes Murphy Scholarship
The purpose of the fund is to provide a stream of income to support scholarship awards to Kinesiology students. The recipients are selected by the scholarship committee within the Department of Kinesiology. Back to the List
Roberta "Bobbie" Peters Scholarship
The scholarship committee for the Department of Kinesiology will administer the application and selection process for the scholarship. Meet the minimum grade point of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and the continuing academic standards of the Department of Kinesiology. Must maintain either full-time or part-time enrollment at TWU; must be an undergraduate student in the Department of Kinesiology. Back to the List
Sanborn Scholarship
Meet the minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and the continuing academic performance standards of the Department of Kinesiology; maintain a full-time enrollment at TWU; and must be a student majoring in Exercise and Sports Nutrition and have professional promise. Back to the List
Softball Scholarship
Meet the minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and the continuing academic performance standards of the Department of Kinesiology; must be a student majoring in the master’s program in the coaching emphasis (Softball); may be offered to a part-time student. Back to the List
