Video on Demand, VOD, services allow users to watch/listen to video and audio content on an as needed basis. VOD includes lecture capture, videoconference recordings, and special events or guest speaker recordings as well as business unit training videos. Video on Demand services meet the increased demand for delivery alternatives and possibilities across a variety of venues.

How can I request a recordable event?

Faculty and staff request that their scheduled Videoconference or event activity be recorded through University Scheduling. University Scheduling will process the request and inform the user. All requests should be confirmed through University Scheduling.

 When is it available?

All recordings will be available as soon as possible but some jobs will take up to 48 hours for posting to the VOD server.

How do I access the recording?

You will receive a URL address from which to access the recording. This URL address can be put in Blackboard course or distributed via email or web page announcements.

How will the recording be managed?

Recorded lectures are intended to enhance the instructional delivery and educational experience for the faculty, student, and viewing audience.  Any class recording will remain on file for 18 months. After that time, it will be removed from the server. Faculty will have the ability to archive the lectures downloading them to their PC and making a CD/DVD copy.

Event videos will be kept on a semester basis. At the end of the semester, the requesting individual or department is responsible for archiving the material if they so choose. Training videos will be reviewed on a semester basis with the business unit for timeliness and need.

What format is the video for viewing?

Each recording will have several options for viewing so users will have an optimal viewing experience. The VOD server is set for T1 internet connection speed from which the video will play. If the video plays choppy or slow, adjusting the bandwidth may be necessary. Video playback depends on where you access the video recording and the speed of your network connection. Current upgrades are being planned for mobile access and enhanced video quality.
