Housing

If you are interested in living on campus, please visit the Housing Department website at www.twu.edu/o-sl/residencelife/reslife.htm to submit an application. If you are interested in off-campus housing, please visit the College Apartment Guide (Denton and Surrounding Areas) at http://collegeapartmentguide.com/.   At this time, there is no temporary on-campus housing available.

Temporary Guest Housing

If you have a family member or friend who will be arriving with you, Denton has several hotels that could accomodate your guest while you are becoming acclimated to TWU and the Denton community.  Please check out the City of Denton website for hotel accommodations.

Money

When you arrive in the United States, you should have sufficient funds to cover your expenses for several weeks. It is advisable to bring traveler's checks and not to carry cash. It is a good idea, however, to exchange some currency for United States dollars to cover immediate expenses, such as transportation, phone calls, and tips. Contact a bank in your country for instructions on how to transfer funds to a bank in Texas. Direct foreign currency exchange is not available in all banks. The university and local businesses accept only United States dollars. Please bring enough money with you to cover your initial fee payment of housing and one-half of your tuition and fees.

Tuition

Be prepared to pay tuition for the first semester upon arrival. You will receive a bill for tuition charges and all applicable fees (including housing and meal plans, if living on campus) which must be paid when registering for your classes. You can pay by cash, check, traveler's checks, money order or credit card. You can contact the Cashier's Office for information regarding the Installment Plan, which will allow you to pay your bill in three monthly installments.

If you are a scholarship recipient, and have questions as to how it will pay for your tuition, and when the remaining amount will be dispersed to you, please contact the Financial Aid office.

HOUSTON CAMPUS STUDENTS

If you will be enrolling at the TWU Houston campus, please send an email to Ms Deborah Unruh, Student Life Coordinator, (dunruh@twu.edu).  More detailed information regarding orientation in Houston can be found at www.twu.edu/houston/orientation-international.htm. Students will also be expected to attend one of the General Orientations.

We are looking forward to meeting you soon!

Sincerely,
Juanita Dueñez-Lazo
Director, Office of International Education
