The TWU Go Program is comprised of various components; each is important to the success of the program and provides a continuous flow for students and their families. The outreach portion of the Go Program is comprised of two portions: The Mobile Go Center and College Readiness Workshops. The intent of these resources is to provide individuals and their families in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex with information pertaining to college access and success by bringing the information to their community.
The Mobile Go Center (MGC) provides college-going resources to primarily high school individuals and their families with the end goal being to ultimately increase the number of students enrolled and succeeding in higher education programs in Texas. It is equipped with computers, high-speed satellite Internet access, and a variety of printed resources and publications. The Mobile Go Center project is an extension of the College for All Texans Campaign’s broad efforts to achieve the participation and success goals of Closing the Gaps by 2015.
In addition to the Mobile Go Center we provide College Readiness Workshops to present realistic college and financial aid awareness to the community.
The College Readiness Workshops are presented and facilitated by our professional staff along with the assistance of our Collegiate G-Force mentors. These presentations are intended to encourage students and their families to think beyond a high school diploma. Workshops may take place either at the host event location or on the campus of Texas Woman's University in Denton.
Resources for both portions may include but are not limited to the following:
- The Free Application for Federal Student Aid and Texas Application for State Financial Aid (FAFSA & TASFA), including assistance with applying for PINs by students and parents.
- The Apply Texas common application
- Scholarship searches and applications
- College checklists
- College guides and catalogs
- College 101 presentations
- Financial Aid 101 presentations
- College life presentations
