From the Director's Desk
Exciting
changes for Staff Performance Evaluations starting next fiscal year....
In 2004 the need was recognized to update and revise the current Staff Performance Evaluation process. This update is required for the marriage of current technology with the university goal of moving towards a merit based compensation system. The committee working on this process was selected by the major university divisions to represent a cross section of all Staff employees. The twelve member committee has completed the review of our current evaluation process, including reviewing over 50 state and national university evaluation systems for "Best Practices". Their mission is at the midpoint with three draft proposals under review. When the final proposed system is submitted, it will have included feedback from all staff groups and the best of the "Best Practices", all while reflecting and preserving many of TWU's finest traditions.
No
easy task.....
I
thank the committee for their hard work and dedication to this important
project.
Cheers,
Lewis Benavides
Director of Human Resources |

Denton Community/Presbyterian
Hospital of Denton
Denton Community Hospital will reopen Friday, April 1st as Presbyterian Hospital of Denton. At that time, Presbyterian Hospital of Denton will no longer be an “In Network” facility under BlueCross BlueShield of Texas. Therefore, employees who have services provided by or procedures scheduled at Denton Community Hospital/Presbyterian Hospital, will receive NON-NETWORK benefits beginning April 1st. Non-network coverage has a $1500/family deductible with insurance covering 60% and insured (employee) paying 40% of allowable amounts after the deductible has been met. The insured (employee) will also be responsible for any balance of a bill that is not covered under allowable amounts. Please refer to the Network and Non-Network Comparison Chart for additional information. While the option is yours, it is more cost efficient for insurers to use a network facility. We, along with all other Denton County state agencies, are very concerned about having only one “In Network” facility in Denton and will continue to communicate this to BlueCross BlueShield. However, the Denton community can get involved by contacting the administrators of the new Presbyterian Hospital of Denton to let them know this is unacceptable. BlueCross BlueShield would like to reenter negotiations with the new hospital administrators and get this matter resolved as quickly as possible. We will continue to keep the TWU community up-to-date.

Human Resources and ITS are looking forward to implementing the self-service capabilities within Oracle which will assist with the processing and routing of personnel transaction forms in the future. Once fully implemented and tested, managers will have access to manager self-service functionality providing them with information based on their management roles. Using the manager self-service feature, managers can perform day-to-day processes for employees under their management, such as initiating the personnel transaction forms. When a manager needs to perform an HR transaction, he/she logs on to the Oracle Manager Self-Service HR and is presented with a navigation tree of the direct reports and can make the change affecting the appropriate employee. The change will be routed through the predefined approval process. Once approved, the transaction will be updated in Oracle HR. In addition, employees can view and update their personal information including emergency contacts and basic personal information needed for accurate benefits eligibility, taxation and payments, such as addresses and bank information. Employees with no direct report have access to their own personal and employment data only.
