PURPOSE:

The purpose of this Texas Woman’s University Operating Policy and Procedure (TWU OP) is to provide guidelines for advertising staff positions.

POLICY/PROCEDURE:

The Office of Human Resources (OHR) will place employment advertising for staff positions.

1.          Classified Positions

Generally the OHR will provide funding for one newspaper advertisement of vacant staff positions respective to their location of the Denton, Dallas, and Houston campuses.  The advertisement will consist of the job title, job code number, and the TWU HR website address for detailed information.

The hiring department may request that OHR place additional position advertisements beyond the local newspaper as described above.  The requesting department will be required to provide funding for the additional position advertisement(s).  The department that is requesting the expanded or additional advertising must provide OHR a copy of the purchase order before the job advertisement will be placed in an additional newspaper or publication.

2.           Professional and Administrative Positions

The OHR will purchase advertisements for professional and administrative (FLSA exempt and non-classified positions) staff positions in two major sources.  Generally, these sources will include the Denton area newspaper and  one additional on-line source such as Monster.com, University Job Bank, and higheredjobs.com as determined by the OHR.  Positions located in Dallas and Houston may choose two additional on-line sources.  If the hiring department wishes to expand the position advertisement beyond the two major sources, the requesting department will be required to pay for the additional advertisement(s). Additional or expanded advertising requires that departments provide to the OHR a copy of the purchase order before OHR will place the ad.

The hiring department and OHR should make every effort to recruit and consider qualified minority groups as outlined in the University Affirmative Action Plan.
