Retirement Plan Payments & Retiree Insurance

Teacher Retirement System (TRS) Retiree

Eligible TRS retirees are eligible for the following benefits (See TRS Handbook at www.trs.state.tx.us):

• Monthly annuity payments:

  • Standard Annuity or Option 1 -5

• Death benefits paid to beneficiaries

• Retiree health care benefits:

  • See retiree insurance eligibility criteria on ERS website at www.ers.state.tx.us

Optional Retirement Program (ORP) Retiree

Eligible ORP retirees are eligible for the following benefits:

• Benefit payments based on the accumulated, vested contributions and interest in the member's account.  The member should work closely with their ORP carrier representative to determine their annuity payout options at retirement.
