Recency of Education

Nutrition Degree Non-Nutrition Degree

    Nutrition Degree

    1.  Nutrition degree (DPD requirement) from TWU
    Additional courses in dietetics or a related area are required to update a degree which was completed five (5) or more years prior to registration eligibility application.

    Courses taken to satisfy the requirements must be completed at a U.S. regionally accredited college or university.  An official transcript verifying completion of the courses with a grade of "C" or better, must accompany the registration eligibility application.  Only courses completed within the last five (5) years are acceptable.
     
     

    Recency of Education Requirement
    0 - 5 years Updating not required
    5 - 10 years 6 semester or 9 quarter hours
    10 years or longer Meet current ADA Didactic Program in Dietetics requirements with no fewer than 12 semester or 18 quarter hours. 

    A Verification Statement signed by the Program Director and a transcript documenting completion of required courses must be submitted with the Registration Eligibility Application. 

    The Verification Statement must be completed within five years immediately prior to the date of application for registration eligibility.

    1.  Nutrition degree (DPD requirement) from non-TWU university

    Students must meet the following criteria:

      1.  Complete a minimum of twenty-four hours of undergraduate nutrition, food science, and foodservice management courses at TWU selected from the following list:
       
        NFS 3033, NFS 3043, NFS 3101, and NFS 3103; NFS 3323 and NFS 3321; NFS 3712 and NFS 3722; NFS 3733; NFS 4004; and NFS 4473.


      2.  Earn a minimum GPA of 3.0 in courses in the Department of Nutrition and Food Sciences and a minimum overall GPA of 2.75.

      3.  Complete NFS 1301 - 1302 and NFS 2323 either at TWU or another college in the United States.

      4.  Complete required courses in mathematics, statistics, business, chemistry, biology, and computer science as listed above.
