Advanced Hours
|
All students must have 36
hours of 3000 or 4000 level courses across their total degree
plan to graduate. Starting fall 2005 the Adapted Physical
Education class (3622/3501) has been changed to a lower division
class (2622/2621). Please look carefully your degree plan and
make sure you have 36 hours of advanced course. Some options for
students to reach the 36 hrs needed:
- Take any 3000 or 4000
level class as an elective.
- Take KINS 4003 (Ropes
course) as your technique course if it fits your needs.
- For statistics, take PSY
3303 instead of MATH 1703.
Courses taken at the community colleges
cannot be counted as advanced hours even if their equivalent TWU course
numbers are of 3000 or 4000 level.

Prerequisites
|
Look carefully at all
prerequisites and get in the appropriate sequences. A few of the
majors ones are:
- Anatomy and Physiology
before ExPhy (3602/3601) and Biomechanics (3592 and 3591).
Try to have these done by the end of the sophomore year.
- Current first aid card and
CPR card before internship and student teaching. Make a copy
of the cards and attach them to the degree plan.
- For corporate fitness
emphasis: Make sure you get into exercise physiology as
quickly as possible. This is the gateway to all the
specialization courses in corporate fitness.
- For teacher certification:
All teacher certification must have passing scores on the
THEA or TASP of 260 for reading; 240 for math; 240 for
writing. There are no exceptions. Remember you must complete
all your coursework before student teaching and at that time
have a 2.75 overall and a 3.0 in your major.
