Point of Clarification for All Health Studies Doctoral Students

The Health Studies Department wants to clarify to all HS doctoral students that the doctoral program is not an online program. That means 51% of your doctoral program must be taken as in-house course work.

Health Studies doctoral courses are offered as:

In-house courses – 100% of the course work is on the Denton campus

In-house short courses - Short courses in the summer for 1 week on                       the Denton campus

In-house weekend courses – Courses are once a month on a Friday                        afternoon and Saturday during the Fall and Spring semesters

In-house hybrid courses – Courses that are at least 51% in-house and                     some online course work

Online courses – 100% of the course work is online

Please be aware that it is your responsibility to plan your classes to comply with the mandate of 51% of the course work being classified as in-house courses.
Thank you

To Health Studies Masters students:

Effective September 1, 2007, Health Studies Department will offer a non-thesis option to current and new Master’s students. This option will involve taking six hours in lieu of a thesis. The total hours required for the Master’s in Health Studies remains at 39 hours. The choices for the optional six hours should be selected from the list of Health Studies elective courses or Library Science elective courses. All current Health Studies Master’s student wishing to explore this six-hour in lieu of thesis option should contact their advisor in the event your degree plan will need changing. To recap, the current and future Health Studies Master’s students may stay with their current degree plan or move to the six hours of course work in lieu of a thesis option.
