Internship Guidelines
Health Studies major must maintained a 12-credit-hour internship experience (Community Health Students total 360 hours) or a 6-credit-hour internship experience (MOT students total 180 hours) must be completed as part of the requirements of a B.S. in Health Studies degree. No other courses may be taken during the semester in which a student is completing their internship. Guidelines for the internship are available from the Internship Coordinator. Pay close attention to guidelines and other posted announcements:

Enroll in HS 4121 the semester prior to your internship experience.

Submit “Intent to Register for Internship” form during the Fall or Spring semester prior to your internship experience.

Make an appointment with your assigned HS Advisor to submit a format TWU (B.S. in Health Studies) Degree Plan one year prior to internship. (The degree plan will be reviewed by our Department Chair, College Dean, and TWU Registrar).

Complete at least 90 credit hours of total course work (senior standing) before enrolling in Internship.

Attain the minimum GPA requirements (Health Studies and Cumulative GPA of 2.75 and “C” or better in all Health Studies Courses).

Successfully complete prerequisite courses prior to the Internship—all required Health Studies courses with the exception of electives must be completed prior to the internship.

Obtain approval from the Internship Coordinator and the preceptor of the proposed internship site prior to registration.
