Obtaining Your MHA Degree to Compliment Your MBA
With the numerous job opportunities
available in health care today, individuals holding MBAs often
find themselves working in health care settings. They also find
that their MBA training did not provide them with the
specialized knowledge of the health care industry that they
need. The Department of Health Care Administration – Houston of
Texas Woman’s University offers these individuals the
opportunity to earn their M.H.A. degree with fewer required
hours than those without an M.B.A.
The Health Care Administration program’s
mission is to improve the practice of health care
administration. The program serves primarily adults working in
a variety of local health services organizations, offering all
courses in the evening with many courses on-line with monthly
on-site discussion sessions. Our student mix of working health
care professionals and adults seeking to enter the health care
field provides a stimulating classroom and networking
environment for all students.
Who May to Apply:
Applicants who hold MBAs from AACSB or
AACBP accredited business schools earned within the past 10
years may be able to obtain an M.H.A. degree by completing 34
core hours and 6 hours of electives. These core hours will
provide the student with in-depth knowledge of health care
systems, health law and ethics, health policy, managerial
epidemiology and quality measurement in health care. The six
hours of electives compliment these courses by providing the
opportunity to apply core knowledge to particular health care
delivery settings.
Applicants holding MBAs from programs not
accredited by AACSB or AACBP may be able to waive certain
foundation and core course hours; admitted students will develop
a degree plan with their advisor based on analysis of their
completed graduate courses.
