Student Code
of Ethics
Students enrolled in classes in the Department of Communication Sciences and
Disorders are
expected to maintain the highest standards of integrity and
ethical principles. The department
subscribes to the American Speech
Language and Hearing Association code of Ethics (see the Clinical
Procedures Manual, p. A-2) and the Texas Woman's University Student Conduct
Policies outlined
in the TWU Student Handbook (see Chapter 4: Student Conduct Policies, p.73)
and expects students
to adhere to these codes and policies. Copies of
both documents are located in the department office.
Students are
advised to read and understand all sections of the Code of Ethics and the
Student
Handbook relating to standards of conduct and academic life.
Academic dishonesty, as defined by the TWU Student
Handbook, "includes cheating, plagiarism,
falsifying academic records, and
any other acts intentionally designed to provide unfair advantage
to the
student or the attempt to commit such acts." Academic dishonesty may
result in the
immediate dismissal from the department and/or class.
Depending on the nature of the offense,
the department reserves the right to
dismiss any student from the program.
I have read the above referenced Code of Ethics for the Department of
Communication Sciences
and Disorders and agree to abide by them.
