Outstanding Features
The TWU
Speech-Language Pathology graduate program is well known for its
outstanding faculty and clinical
experiences provided through the TWU Speech and Hearing Clinic and the
TWU Stroke Center-Dallas.
Students also obtain clinic hours in public schools,
clinics, hospitals and rehabilitation centers in the Dallas-Ft.
Worth metroplex. Additionally, the Department has a specialty
clinic, the TWU Dysphagia Center (CAFFE), for infants and adults
with feeding and swallowing disorders, and a voice clinic for Parkinson’s
disease. The SLP Program
also works closely with the Department’s Deaf Education Program.
Clinical / Practicum Experiences
Students are required to enroll for six semesters of clinical practicum.
Students obtain initial clinical practicum experience at the TWU
clinic and in the Lewisville ISD. Students are assigned to practicum at the Stroke Center-Dallas
in their third or fourth semester. After successful
completion of the Stroke Center-Dallas, students are eligible for externships
in clinics, hospitals, long-term care facilities, rehabilitation centers, ECI
and other sites.
