Speech-Language Pathology

Students
may pursue a master’s degree in
Speech-Language Pathology
or a dual master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and
Deaf Education. The
TWU Speech-Language Pathology Program is a program accredited by ASHA's Council on Academic Accreditation (CCA) and
students are prepared to obtain a Texas License and The Certificate of
Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology.
The TETN-TWU master’s
degree in Speech-Language Pathology
is available through videoconferencing and on-line classes and
is restricted
to individuals sponsored by Texas public schools
Deaf
Education – Local Area Students

Students
who wish to become teachers of children who are deaf or hard of hearing must
be certified by the Texas Education Agency. The TWU program in
Deaf Education meets all standards established by the state of
Texas and the Council on Education of the Deaf. Upon completion
of the required coursework, which includes student teaching,
students must also pass the state TExES examination.

Students
interested in securing a master’s degree and/or certification
through distance education should contact the department
of education (State Agency) for the state in which they reside
to determine certification requirements. Many courses are available online, and the department
will work with individual students to customize distance
education programs.
