Blackboard

Blackboard is TWU's online course management system which allows students, faculty, staff and organizations to communicate, educate, and learn in an online academic setting. Courses may range from 100% online where a course resides completely in an online environment to supplemental in which various aspects of the classroom environment like syllabi, grades or assignments may reside online. You may find a variety of information and resources, login access, self-help tutorials, who to call for assistance, information about our latest releases as well as course schedules and training information from TWU's Blackboard Support page.

Colleague

Colleague is the software package that contains the university's student information including:

  • student applications and registration
  • class schedules
  • financial aid information
  • tuition and fees status
  • grades and transcripts

Colleague consists of many different mnemonics each with its own function within the database. Each user is set up with access to different mnemonics making Colleague unique to that user.  For this reason one user's screen may differ from another's. To access the training documents for the new Colleague WebUI, please check out ISS website at http://www.twu.edu/itds/phoenix-colleague.asp

If you've never had a Colleague account, you will need to login to your Pioneer Portal and request your account to be set up.

Phoenix

Phoenix is the software package that we use for financials, reports, and timecards. To access the training documents, please visit ISS training website at http://www.twu.edu/itds/phoenix-colleague.asp

Microsoft Office Applications

In Spring 2008, we've upgraded our computer classrooms and computer lab in Houston campus to Microsoft Office 2007. We've prepared a Office 2007 Resources CD to help faculty, staff and students with the ease of transition. Training classes and one-on-one training are also available to Houston community. To get a copy of the resources CD, please contact one of the ITS staff.

You may also check out Microsoft Office website for training tutorials and online courses.

3 Minute Tutorials

To help ease the transition to new Office 2007 or Colleague programs, ITS staff has created some short video tutorials. These files are in Windows Media format, and are around 3 minutes in length. Please check Houston-ITS Share Point site to access these short videos. We'll keep updating this page with new video files. Please check the page often.

Classroom Training Classes

We offer computer training classes throughout the year. Training classes are offered in different format - classroom settings, group training, departmental training, or one-on-one training. End-user software and hardware one-on-one training is also available as needed. Please check Our Services page for a detailed training classes schedule.
