History and Government students say...

Tifanny Smith"Entering the history program as an undergraduate at TWU was truly one of the best decisions I've ever made. My time in the program as an undergraduate changed me from a student working with history to a historian working in history. I would not have been able to make the transition without the support, encouragement, and consistent challenge of the faculty who strive to push each student in unique ways." - Tiffany Smith, history major

Eliza Alvarado with Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis"The Department of History and Government at Texas Woman's University is second to none. I was 18 and about 10 hours from home when I first arrived here. The professors, the curriculum, and the overall experience I had while at TWU  were instrumental in making me the person I am  today. I think it is safe to say the department had me at "hello". I am very proud of my alma mater. I attended graduate school at other universities and have learned a great deal from them, but the lessons learned here were by far the most important." - Eliza Alvarado, government major (shown with Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis)

Christina Wagoner"The TWU History and Government Department has been a home away from home for me since I was a freshman. There was always someone there to encourage me as I navigated my way through college, and I doubt I would have been as successful without them. Under the faculty's guidance, I am well prepared to excel in graduate school and the real world. Most of all, the program taught me that history and government were much more than just facts and dates or laws and policy. They are about humanity, about people. I have taken this lesson to heart and plan to pursue a career in policy that aids individuals and communities." - Christina Wagoner, history major
