Keys to Successful Online Learning

The online student possesses very unique characteristics. The majority of the online students today consist primarily of working people who need a flexible schedule to achieve their learning objectives.  As the internet becomes more popular more people are becoming aware of the online programs.  As we all know, the traditional school will never go away, but the virtual classroom plays a significant role in today’s educational society. Online students need to have knowledge on what would make their online learning a success. Here are some keys for making your online experience a success:

  • Accept critical thinking and decision making as part of the learning process.
  • Always have access to a computer and modem.
  • Be able to meet the requirements for the online program.
  • Be open-minded about sharing work and educational experiences.
  • Be able to effectively communicate through formal writing.
  • Be consistent and stay on task.
  • Be self-motivated and self-disciplined.
  • Be able to commit at least 6 to 9 hours per week per course.
  • Be polite and respectful to your online instructors and peers.
  • Become a true advocate of distance learning.
  • Have good time management skills.
  • Make sure you have enough space for your studying.
  • Take the program and yourself seriously.
  • Participate!
