TWU MHA-Univ. of St. Thomas MBA Dual Degree

By special agreement, students in Health Care Administration program of TWU are provided an opportunity to obtain an MBA through the Cameron School of Business at the University of St. Thomas. Students obtain both the fundamental set of health services management skills through the MHA and specialized training provided by the MBA program. Students first complete the TWU MHA degree.  They apply to the St. Thomas program in their last semester of the TWU MHA Prorgam.  Students interested in this option must contact the graduate admissions advisor at the UST Cameron School of Business during the St. Thomas application process in order to verify the specific course requirements needed to complete the MBA degree and TWU-HCA courses that will qualify for waiver of required MBA courses.

Other TWU Master's Program Options

Additionally, TWU offers MBA, MHSM, and EMBA degrees in addition to the MHA degree. The MBA, MHSM, and EMBA degrees are offered by separate colleges and require a separate application process. The MBA, MHSM, and EMBA degrees are offered by the School of Management.  The MHA degree is offered by the College of Health Sciences, Houston campus only. Students desiring both MBA and MHA degrees must apply and be accepted by each program/school separately. Acceptance in the MBA/MHSM/EMBA programs do not guarantee acceptance into the MHA-HCA program and vice versa. Students who wish to pursue both degrees must apply separately to each program and fulfill admission requirements defined by each program.

The EMBA also offers a health care concentration in Health Systems Management. That concentration  as well as the MHSM degree is only available on the Dallas campus or online through the School of Management HSM course work. Students cannot enroll in HCA-Houston courses to fulfill  those concentration requirements.

Applicants may request a waiver of courses completed in either the MBA, MHSM, EMBA or MHA program toward the second degree plan. These are generally limited to 12 semester hours and require departmental approval. Transfer credits are not guaranteed and are evaluated on a case by case basis. The applicant must have completed the course for which waiver is requested with a grade of B or better. Students who have not completed all requirements of the EMBA program will be required to submit test scores from the GRE or GMAT for consideration of admission into the MHA degree program. Students who have successfully completed all requirements and earned the MBA, MHSM, or EMBA degree will be waived from the GRE/GMAT requirement.
