An international student who is serving as a Graduate Assistant and who is eligible for university staff insurance must notify the Student Health Services that he/she is covered by university insurance. The appropriate form may be obtained from Human Resources or the student may ask his/her department to notify Student Health Services of the student's eligibility. The form will entitle the international graduate assistant to a credit/refund of the insurance fees with the exception of the Repatriation and Medical Evacuation insurance (fee: $25/year). It is the international student's responsibility to show proof of coverage to the Student Health Services Office in order to receive reimbursement/credit.
DEADLINE TO RECEIVE REIMBURSEMENT/CREDIT IS THE 12TH DAY OF CLASSES FOR FALL/SPRING AND THE 4TH DAY OF CLASSES FOR THE SUMMER SESSIONS. REIMBURSEMENTS/CREDITS WILL NOT BE ISSUED AFTER THESE DATES.
As a condition of admission, Texas Woman's University requires all non-immigrant international students to maintain medical and accident insurance coverage, which includes repatriation and medical evacuation benefits, during enrollment at the university. The university sponsors a health insurance policy that provides medical coverage as well as the required repatriation and medical evacuation provisions. This policy also provides health care options for the student's spouse and children (at an additional cost). All international students are billed Foreign Student Insurance fee (FSI) on their tuition and fees statement each semester. If you have alternate coverage through another insurance provider, approval of a reimbursement/credit will be considered. This approval is considered only if the requirements are met and the appropriate form(s) is completed. If proof of adequate coverage does not include repatriation and medical evacuation, the university will provide the benefit through their sponsored insurance program at $25/year.
