About the Graduate School

Accreditation

TWU is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award baccalaureate, master's and doctoral degrees. Over 5,200 graduate students are enrolled at TWU in 70 master's and 23 doctoral programs of study.

In addition to the university's accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, specialized accreditations for state, regional and/or national professional association and boards speak to the quality of TWU's academic programs

History

Graduate study began at Texas Woman's University in 1930, and since 1952 the Graduate School has operated as a unit under its own Dean and Graduate Council. Doctoral degrees were first awarded at the University in 1953.
