There is no record of an inaugural gown. The one representing Anne Elizabeth Britton Davis was presented to the collection by her granddaughter, Mrs. Charles Kellogg of New York City.
The dress is made of dark red starched marquisette over a turkey red cambric lining with a long, full, bell-shaped skirt, V-neck and tight bodice with elaborate sleeves.
