TWU Golf Course
Welcome to the TWU Pioneer Golf Course, a TWU and Denton tradition for 70 years! Our 18 hole public course is located off Mingo Road on the TWU Denton campus. This is an eventful time for the course, as we build a new clubhouse, update our equipment/facilities, continue to make improvements on the course and begin to build this website.
Tee Times:
The Golf Course now takes tee times 7 days a week. To reserve your tee time, please call 940-898-3163.
Road Construction:
Currently, the City of Denton and TWU have come road construction and demolition projects occurring that block some points of entry into the TWU Pioneer Golf Course:
- Mingo Road: Entrance to the golf course from Mingo Road is currently blocked.
- TWU Campus demolition: Due to the demolition of the Reagan Houston residence hall, the visitor's parking lot next to the golf course has been blocked off. From Bell Ave., turn on to Schmidt Street. Stay straight on Schmidt until you reach the golf course.
Recommended Route to the Golf Course: From Bell Ave. (whether coming from the north or the south), turn on College Street. Follow that road until you see the golf course in front of you.
On a Course for Distinction:
The TWU Pioneer Golf Course, established in 1941 and the only public golf course in Denton, is being revitalized! When completed, the course will include a new clubhouse, cart barn, course restroom facility, beverage cart and golf carts. In addition, the greens, course maintenance and landscaping will be enhanced to make our course the pride of Denton.
We are currently looking for sponsors in the community to help make this vision a reality. Sponsorship begins at $250 and is a great way to perserve TWU and Denton history. The Clubhouse:
Our new clubhouse is now open!
Please be patient as we move in, work on landscaping, etc.
New Golf Carts:
The TWU Golf Course now has 40 Yamaha golf carts available!
Rebuilding Four Greens on the Course:
We will aerate the greens the week of September 8, 2008.
Holes 7, 8, 16, and 17 were resodded and look great!
Golf Course Maintenance Equipment:
The TWU Golf Course has replaced the destroyed golf course maintenance equipment, including utility carts, mowers and sprayer. Maintenance of the course has resumed.
Fire at the Golf Course Cart Barn:
The Texas Woman’s University Golf Course reopened Wednesday, April 16, 2008, following a fire that destroyed the golf cart barn at the course.
The fire broke out shortly after midnight Sunday (April 13). No injuries were reported, but the building and golf maintenance equipment were destroyed.
