Without TWU and the Bachelor of General Studies program I would have never realized my dream of acquiring a Bachelor of Science degree from a respected university.  The program fit me and my lifestyle perfectly.  As a “mature” student with a family, full-time career, and very little spare time for things like commuting and attending traditional classroom courses, I found the BGS and its many online course options to be the motivators I needed to finish my degree.  Web-based Blackboard was easy to navigate and use for the online classes.  Coursework was challenging, and the professors were knowledgeable and took a personal interest in my success.  The BGS program was the answer for me – maybe it is the answer for you, also.

I love the ability to complete my BGS major on-line.  It gives me the flexibility to save commute  time, complete more coursework, and taylor my learning to meet personal and career goals.  It also helps me to schedule tests and homework in a less ridgid format than in a traditional classroom environment.

I have had a great experience as a General Studies Major.  I like my classes and what I am exposed to and learn from the classes.  I enjoy the privilege of not having to choose between my job and my academic future.  I have the best of both worlds with this major and I have no difficulties at all in receiving my assignments and posting my responses.  My instructors usually always respond to questions within 24 hours which is appreciated.  Surfing through the TWU website is easy and user friendly

I transferred to TWU after having attended both a state university and a community college. TWU's General Studies program was ideal for me because it allowed me to pick from various fields of study and get the degree that represented the academic interests I have. Plus, it gave me freedom in my scheduling because of the ability to do long distance learning through internet classes. One summer session I was actually able to travel and be in school full time; at the same time! If you are unsure of what subject to study specifically, or are looking to study a few different topics, beyond the regular 'core requirements', then I would recommend the TWU BGS program. The advisor for this program is very caring and helpful, as well. 

In 1996, I gave up on the idea of ever completing my degree.  I had been going to college off and on since 1978 and finally decided I could not make it happen.

The General Studies Major is the perfect solution for me as a returning student after many years away from college.  This has allowed me to use many transferrable hours from other unrelated majors and select new courses which are both interesting and suitable for my vocational choice.  Other majors I considered would have required many more hours to complete and not added any additional value to my degree plan.  Also, the option of completing most of these classes online through distance education has allowed me to complete the courses at times convenient for my family and job.

I love being a General Studies Major.  This type of online education works well with my lifestyle.  Working full-time and raising 3 sons by myself doesn't provide me with much time for attending classes.  However, the BGS Online Studies program affords me the opportunity to complete my degree and continue with my responsibilities.  The professors are wonderful and the education is high quality.  TWU has done a wonderful job when creating this program.

My experience as a General Studies Major has been nothing but great.  The program has offered me the flexiblity to work at my own pace which is very important given the hours I work.  The professors have been organized and responsive providing clear direction.  In fact, I'm so impressed that I've already begun looking into the online Masters Program.

TWU's online BGS was a perfect fit for my desire to return to school after taking a 20 year 'break' from my studies. As a full-time working professional I knew that returning to school could be a challenge in both the scheduling of the classes and the time it would take for me to complete my degree. 

After much searching and research I found the TWU BGS program; I was very pleased with the selection of concentrations that I could take, and the flexibility of the requirements of the program allowing my older, less pertinent classes (choir, etc).

After beginning the program in Spring 2006, I am scheduled to graduate after only 2.5 years. (I had begun with 45 hours from previous college in 1985)

I have achieved a great deal during my time at TWU; I have increased self respect as a result of finishing my degree, my self confidence is at an all-time high. I knew that I could finish school, but I did not know that I would be able to achieve it at the level that I have (I have averaged a 3,5 GPA for those classes I have completed at TWU). I had doubted my ability to focus enough for online classes; I have every reason now to know that when I want something, want to accomplish something, that I will without it being a hardship or struggle to focus.

I want to thank TWU for having one of the finest on-line programs in the state of Texas, and certainly the best selection of on-line classes. I look
