The Department of Family Sciences offers programs leading to the Bachelor of Science degree in child development, consumer sciences, family studies, and home economics. Graduate degrees offered are the Master of Science and Master of Education degrees in Counseling and Development, Master of Science degrees in Child Development, Family Studies, and Family Therapy; and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Family Studies, Child Development, and Family Therapy. Completion of the B.S. degree with a major in Home Economics satisfies the course requirements of Texas Education Agency for a Provisional Certificate in Vocational Home Economics.

Child Development Minor An academic minor in Child Development requires 18 semester hours of study in child development. Of these, six hours must be junior or senior level courses.
