Outstanding Student Awards

Purpose of the Awards

To honor at least one member of the Senior Class, at least one Master’s student, at least one Doctoral Student for Excellence in Scholarship and Service.

Eligibility

To be eligible, students must be projected to graduate in December 2011 or May 2012 or have completed degree requirements by August 2012 academic year.  They must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.50.  Post baccalaureate students are not eligible for consideration of the Outstanding Graduate Student Awards.  Post baccalaureate students should following the criterion for the Outstanding Senior Awards.   

Criteria Considered for Award Selection

·         Minimum grade point average of 3.5

·         Three letters of reference that address professional accomplishments    and  potential.   For  graduate students, one letter must be from your major professor/advisor. Reference Letters may be submitted separately from your application; however, they need to be received by the Center for Student Development no later than February 24, 2012

·         Statement of professional goals

·         Professional presentations, publications, performances, or exhibits

·         Scholarships and Awards

·         Honor societies

·         Service to Texas Woman’s University, the profession, and the community

Nomination Procedure

Faculty, Staff, and/or students are eligible to nominate qualified students.  Furthermore, students may also nominate their peers or themselves.

Deadline for Nomination Letters

Nominations must be received by the Center for Student Development, csd@twu.edu.  or P.O. Box 425379, Denton, TX 76204 or hand delivered to the Student Union, Room 116, by 5:00P.M., February 1, 2012.  Direct any questions to Ana Barraza (940-898-3626), Patricia Edwards (940-898-3980), or Kyle Voyles (940-898-3641).  Packets may be submitted electronically csd@twu.edu, hand delivered, or mailed.

Deadlines for Completed Application Materials
