Matching Gifts
Outright gifts of cash, as well as gifts of appreciated property, help build a foundation for the future of Texas Woman’s University and provide you, the donor, with charitable gift deductions and—in some cases—additional cash for retirement years. A matching gift can double or even triple the actual amount you intend to provide for an endowment.
To initiate a matching gift, you must complete a company’s matching gift form and send it, with your donation, to the Texas Woman’s University Foundation. The TWU Foundation, in turn, completes the form; it certifies that your gift was received and that it (the foundation) is eligible to receive matching gifts under that company’s guidelines. The TWU Foundation then sends the form back to your company, which then verifies both the eligibility of the donor and the TWU Foundation as a recipient organization. After that step has been completed, the company sends a check to the TWU Foundation; the funds will be used for the purpose you already have specified.
When you establish an endowment with a matching gift, you:
